Whats the difference between fail to stop for a stop sign and daily to yield at a stop sign?
At a stop sign (pictured above) one must come to a full and complete cessation of all movement (tires must cease rolling) at the marked intersection (usually a stop line or crosswalk) or a safe point near the intersection. If one fails to stop that is a failure to stop for a stop sign violation. A further obligation is that once stopped one shall remain stopped until it is their turn to proceed and its safe to do so. If one proceeds into the intersection before their right to do so, that’s failure to yield.
These violations carry points and a fine and can impact insurance as well.
So stop for the stop sign and stay stopped until it’s safe to do so.
